Treatment Of Parliamentary Estate Staff

EDM number 1196 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 14/03/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Parliament and Pay.

That this House notes that the vast majority of staff on the Parliamentary Estate perform their duties diligently and politely to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament in all its aspects and therefore deserve the House's gratitude; further notes that proposals for changes to pay and conditions of staff on the Parliamentary Estate will lead to many staff members losing thousands of pounds of income which many, particularly on lower incomes, can ill afford to do and which they do not deserve to lose; opposes the changes to pay and conditions currently on the table; and asks the Parliamentary Estate management to come back with alternative proposals in which Parliamentary Estate staff, particularly on lower incomes, will not have their living standards slashed.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
