Restoration Of State Pension Earnings Link

EDM number 42 in 2002-03, proposed by Alan Hurst on 13/11/2002.

That this House congratulates the National Pensioners Convention on their successful rally held on 11th November; and calls upon the Government to bring forward an increase in the basic state pension to ú100 per week for a single person and ú156 per week for a couple, to restore the link between the basic state pension and average earnings and to maintain the state earnings related second pension SERPS.
