Cash Machine Red And Green Signs
EDM number 1027 in 2005-06, proposed by Sally Keeble on 15/11/2005.
That this House welcomes Nationwide's Free ATM campaign and its move to bring about transparency by displaying clear green signs indicating that its machines will not charge for cash withdrawals; notes that Nationwide estimates that fee-charging machines will cost consumers £250 million in 2006; and calls on other banks, building societies and ATM providers to adopt standardised green signs for free ATMs and red signs for charging ATMs so that consumers can recognise from a distance whether or not they will be charged for withdrawing cash.
This motion has been signed by a total of 143 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
