Brighton And Hove Albion And Lewes District Council

EDM number 1151 in 2005-06, proposed by Desmond Turner on 29/11/2005.

That this House regrets the decision taken by Cabinet members of Lewes District Council at a meeting from which the public was excluded to seek to challenge by judicial review, the decision of the Deputy Prime Minister which, supported the siting of a new community stadium at Falmer, a decision which would benefit Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club and the wider local and regional community; believes that the estimated expenditure of £100,000 on such a challenge over and above the £207,000 already spent by the Council on opposing the stadium plans does not represent good value for money for residents of Lewes; and calls upon Lewes District Council to rescind its decision.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
