Teletext

EDM number 1943 in 2008-09, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 20/07/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Broadcasting.

That this House notes with regret the premature closure of Teletext in January 2010, two years ahead of initial plans; recognises that current economic conditions, fragmented television audiences and increased use of the internet have reduced audience numbers and commercial activity; acknowledges the effects of the closure of up to 70 staff and also more widely the number of small independent companies that currently take advantage of the site as an advertising medium; and further notes the valued contribution to public news and information that Teletext has provided for over 35 years.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
