Rail Electrification To Swansea

EDM number 122 in 2012-13, proposed by Geraint Davies on 22/05/2012.

That this House notes that the councils of Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire wish to work together as Swansea Bay City Region, representing a population of three quarters of a million people; further notes that alongside business and university stakeholders across the City Region they support the electrification of the Valleys' Lines to Bridgend and Maesteg and the Paddington line to Swansea to promote economic growth for West Wales; and calls on the Government to include rail electrification for the Valleys and to Swansea in its High Level Output Statement in July 2012 for capital investment for 2014-19.
