First Deaf Yachtsman To Circumnavigate The Globe

EDM number 51 in 2013-14, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 08/05/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Shipping and Sports.

That this House congratulates Gerry Hughes on becoming the world's first deaf yachtsman to sail single-handed around the world, passing all five Southern great capes after eight months; notes that this is a sailing challenge which only 300 people have completed, involving over 32,000 miles; wishes Mr Hughes every success in his next challenge, whatever that might be; and particularly recognises the inspiration he has provided to deaf people around Scotland and the UK.

This motion has been signed by a total of 51 MPs.
