Diabetes Week

EDM number 1331 in 2003-04, proposed by Adrian Sanders on 09/06/2004.

That this House welcomes Diabetes Week, taking place between 13th and 19th June; notes with keen interest the results of the CARDS study, which highlights the major potential benefits of statins for people with Type 2 diabetes; and believes that greater prescribing of statins should be part of a more long-term approach to the management of conditions such as diabetes, which seeks to prevent long-term problems such as heart disease and strokes which are so costly to individuals and the NHS, by identifying and treating people as early and effectively as possible.

This motion has been signed by a total of 104 MPs.
